CSS Athletics Team Earns Long Awaited Victory

The HKSSF Inter-school Athletics Competition is one of the most anticipated events of the school year. The CSS Athletics Team has continuously improved - last year our school came 3rd. So this year, going into the competition, the team had high hopes of being able to win overall champion of their division and getting promoted to Division 2. Our school coach, Mr. Jimmy Cheng, and the athletics team captains have worked since the end of the competition last year to up the team’s game. The 80 that went out to compete are full of potential. The disparity in the strength of athletes was large, so the trick to solving this was training.

As the competition neared we became nervous and felt the chance of getting promoted to Division 2 slowly slipping away, we were nervous yet anxious of what we could achieve. So, over the course of the 3 days at competition, we laid all cards out on the tables and gave it the best effort we have given than ever before. Consequently, the results we achieved reflected this effort.  Even with disqualifications, girls came first overall by quite a margin and will be promoted to Division 2. The boys came in second overall, but have their minds, hearts and bodies set on winning next year. We raked in a total of 17 golds, 9 silvers and 2 bronzes.

This experience has been very motivational to all the athletes on our team. For both girls and boys, the stakes have been raised, and we will continue to spend time and energy to do well in the years to come! The CSS Athletics Team is emerging into the competitive realm.
