CSS students visit food bank and serve the needy
On 7th March 2015, 10 of our student volunteers with Ms Kwok and Mrs Laver had an opportunity to visit the People's Food Bank which is one of the charity projects run by St. James' Settlement.
People's Food Bank is a non-governmental charitable organization in Hong Kong with more than 60 years of history. It aims at helping the needy to cope with social challenges. It is a relief center that provides food assistance. Its mission is to provide food to the needy on a temporary basis, relieve hunger and to promote social cohesion by encouraging people to donate.
During the service, our students helped to distribute dinner boxes which were prepared by St. James' Settlement and to give scarfs, napkin flowers and paper cranes which were made by our students and PTA parent volunteers for the service users. Service users were very pleased to receive our gifts. Also, our students had a chance to know more about the operation of food banks in Hong Kong. Students enjoyed their service experience and would like to serve the service users again in the nearer future.
