"The IB Diploma Programme is designed as an academically challenging and balanced programme of education with final examinations that prepares students, normally aged 16 to 19, for success at university and life beyond. The programme is normally taught over two years and has gained recognition and respect from the world's leading universities."(http://www.ibo.org/diploma/) The programme is over 40 years old offered in over one hundred countries all over the world.

Programme Model

  IBDP wheel

IBDP students select six subjects from the six subject groups of the IB Diploma Programme. Students can take a second subject from another group instead of an Arts subject (Group 6). Three of the subjects  are studied at Higher Level (HL) and the other three are studied at Standard Level (SL).
There are three compulsory core components taken by all students:
 1.  Creativity, Action, Service (CAS)
 2.  Theory of Knowledge (TOK)
 3.  Extended Essay (EE)

Students are assessed by criterion-referred school-based internal assessments as well as by external examinations at the end of the two year programme. Scores from 1 to 7 are given for each subject. A maximum of 45 points can be scored ( 6 x 7 plus 3 for TOK / EE). A student who meets core requirements and achieves 24 points are awarded the IB Diploma. Each year universities and colleges around the world publicize minimum score required for entry. A hard-working student with average academic ability can obtain the Diploma.
