Vice Principal

 

Creative Secondary School is seeking an experienced Vice Principal to join the leadership team in August 2024. The successful candidate will be expected to have a holistic view of education as they will be expected to lead and elevate all areas of the CSS learning experience.  

 

Basic Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor Degree or higher with an Education Diploma or equivalent. 

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in Senior School Administration and Management equivalent to Senior Graduate Master (SGM) level or higher. 

  • Candidates with experience in both the Hong Kong Junior & Senior Secondary School curriculum (HKDSE), as well as experience and/or related qualifications in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programmes would be a definite advantage. 

  • Candidates with experience in serving as Vice-Principal or Assistant Principal in DSS or Private Independent Schools are preferred.

  • A resourceful strategic planner and manager – methodical and effective in operational management of tasks and people, with skills and abilities to plan, develop and implement school policies.

  • A friendly, eloquent communicator – Skilled in nurturing of positive relationships, motivating students and teachers to complete goals and problem solving with optimism and positivity.

  • A pragmatic administrator –  Skills and experience in management of budget and finances in a Direct Subsidy Scheme school, as well as track records of successful application of external resources such as the QEF and other funding schemes in Hong Kong would be a definite advantage.

 

Key Leadership Responsibilities:

  • To periodically review and update the curriculum, academic initiatives and pedagogical approaches to ensure that they fully meet the needs and aspirations of students.

  • To periodically review and update the effectiveness of the school’s Pastoral Care Systems, Personal Growth and Experiential Learning Programmes.

  • To coordinate the development of an evidence-based approach to monitor and enhance students’ wellbeing, development and progression through S.4 to S.6 towards their tertiary education & career pathways

  • Adopting a whole-school, evidence-based, value-adding approach, review and develop policies & practices in respect of:

 

  • quality teaching and learning processes

  • students’ language proficiency

  • students’ engagement, motivation and Approaches To Learning  

  • students’ academic progress and achievements

  • reporting and documenting compliance with EDB and IB requirements 

  • Overseeing of the school’s knowledge management team

 

  • Supporting the Principal’s decision-making on staffing requirements, devise a school timetable that helps to achieve the school’s curriculum goals, best meet the needs of subject faculties and serve the learning requirements of our students.

  • Working with the Careers Team and other key colleagues to review and update the school’s current rationale and process for supporting student career choices including enrolment onto appropriate courses in HKDSE or IBDP.
