On 19 December 2024, as the year draws to a close, Creative Secondary School (CSS) hosted the Winter Arts Showcase 2024, titled "Kaleidoscope: A Celebration of Cultural Diversity Through the Arts." This event brought together families and friends to honor and celebrate cultural diversity.
The Winter Arts Showcase 2024 elevated the evening into an enthralling journey across the globe. The International Food Fair delighted guests with an array of global snacks, while the Winter Arts Showcase Performance presented an exciting lineup of acts that celebrated various cultures, including Asian, Western, African, and Latin American traditions. A particularly touching moment came from the Watoto Choir, our special guests from Uganda—a group of orphaned children who conveyed their uplifting stories through beautiful singing and dancing.
Guests also admired selected artworks that fuse Chinese and Western arts techniques, crafted by students from Creative Secondary School (CSS), Creative Primary School (CPS), and Creative Primary School’s Kindergarten (CPSKG).
Before the Winter Arts Showcase Performance started, our event had been enriched by the support of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), which provided a selection of delicious local cuisine to fundraise for the Watoto Choir and their mission to support underprivileged children and women.
The highlight of the evening was the Winter Arts Showcase Performance, over 100 students collaborated to create a mesmerizing cultural symphony. From the rhythmic beats of African Drumming to the elegant movements of the CPS Chinese Dance Performance; from the harmonious melodies of the CSS Orchestra to the vibrant energy of Bollywood Dance; from the soulful notes of the Filipino Folk Song to the liveliness of K-pop Dance, the students eagerly shared their talents and cultural stories without reservation.
The show concluded with an impressive performance by the Watoto Choir. As they sang, 'The bigger the battle, the greater my faith,' all the students jumped and clapped in rhythm. At that moment, the Watoto Choir united everyone with their energy, instilling a sense of faith in all who were present.
Beyond the performances, the students exhibited exceptional creativity and organizational skills. Each performance was meticulously coordinated, with students taking charge of the lighting, sound, and effects, making the evening even more unforgettable.
As CSS approaches its 20th anniversary and CPS and CPSKG near their 40th, we have many exciting activities ahead. Together, we look forward to providing more opportunities for all our students to shine in the years to come.
