The CSS Softball Team took home our first trophy in December 2018 since it was established in 2017, when we became 1st runner-up in the final of 18-19 All Hong Kong Inter-Secondary Schools Softball Competition on 1 December 2018.
The young CSS Softball team took on the behemoth - the 8-time defending champion HKBUAS Wong Kam Fai Secondary and Primary School. The titleholder won all their matches by a large margin thus far (16 - 9 against Tam Lee Lai Fun Memorial Secondary School, 19 - 9 against La Salle College in the quarterfinal, 16 - 1 against Diocesan Boys' School in the semi-final), while CSS proceeded to the final with a narrow semi-final win of 5-2 against Tam Lee Lai Fun Memorial Secondary School.

In the first 2 innings, we faced the ace pitcher of the U18 Hong Kong team and CSS could not break HKBUAS’s line of defence. But with F4 Ja Duncan's solid pitching, our team remained undeterred and limited the defending champion's advance to 3 runs and 1 run by the end of the second innings.
At the start of the third innings, our captain F4 Bo Bosco made the breakthrough. He got used to the pitching speed, made 10 consecutive cutting swings, disrupted HKBUAS' pitching rhythm and got a walk to the base. Taking their chances, the rest of the CSS team swiftly followed and scored run after run. The excitement continued down to the last moment. In a two-out, bases-loaded play, our 9th batter F4 Bo Eric hit a 2-run RBI single, finishing our attacking phrase with a lead of 5-4.
But likewise, after pitching for nearly an hour and a half under the scorching sun, our pitcher was worn out. As HKBUAS secured 5 more runs and with match time running out, we finally closed the game with a score of 5 - 12, achieving a very worthy 1st runner-up place in the competition, having given the champions their toughest match of the season.
