Kayley: Hi everyone, I am Kayley from Form 4 Bauhinia.
Diyana: And I am Diyana from F4 Bauhinia. Kayley, did you realise? There are so many new events happening before the beginning of our Christmas break!
Kayley: Yes, of course! Tomorrow will be the finals for Sports Day, and we also have an inter-house cheerleading competition.
Diyana: I am very excited to see all the houses’ cheers! As a member of house committee of Bauhinia, I saw all the Form 2’s determination to give their best they could for each practice. It was very difficult at the beginning as they were not ready for that, but everyone finally came along and gave their best effort to show the house spirit! Kayley, as you're also a member of house committee from Bauhinia, what did you think about the house spirit on our first Sports Day?
Kayley: I thought all the members from Bauhinia were very supportive. I saw Bauhinians cheering for anyone who was competing for our house. This also applied to other houses too. I was so delighted to see how other houses showed support for their members. No matter what, by the end of the day, if you have already done your very best, that's all that matters! Your house members and friends will still congratulate you no matter what, and that’s what we call “House Spirits”.
Diyana: I completely agree with you, Kayley! Sports day is a day when all students can unite and support each other. Did you also know that there'll be another big event coming up soon?
Kayley: Oh, do you mean our Christmas Celebration?
Diyana: Well. not exactly. I want to mention the upcoming Cultural Day at our school and the Winter Arts Showcase!
Kayley: Oh yeah! I did hear about that! On 19 December, we will have a day where we can wear the traditional costumes of our countries! Diyana, are you planning to wear your cultural clothes?
Diyana: Well of course! This is a day I can show my unique culture to all students in CSS. Hosting this Cultural Day allows all students, teachers, and everyone from our community to appreciate cultural diversity. There are many things I can experience and learn on that day. As I mentioned earlier, we will also host the Winter Arts Showcase at night.
Kayley: I am so excited to see everyone wearing their traditional costumes. As you mentioned, there will also be a Winter Arts Showcase on the same day. This year’s Winter Arts Showcase is called ‘Kaleidoscope: A Celebration of Cultural Diversity through the Arts’. On that night, we will be able to experience the beauty of different cultures through performing arts in the school hall, as well as a VA Exhibition by students from CSS, CPS and CPSKG at the Balcony. There will also be an International Food Festival held at Court C.
Diyana: That sounds exciting! For the show, there is going to be a wide variety of performances that represent the wonderful cultures we have here at CSS, such as the Bollywood Dance, African Drumming, Chinese dances, Chinese Drums, Irish dancing and many more! Kayley, do you know that there will be some special guests joining us for the Winter Arts Showcase?
Kayley: Of course! Besides students from Creative Primary School who will be performing a Chinese dance, the Watoto Children’s Choir from Uganda will be part of the performance too and will be performing two songs! There will also be a booth set up outside the hall to help raise money for the Watoto's mission of helping orphans in Uganda. The night is not just about showcasing our diverse cultural traditions, but also about bringing everyone together, learning from each other, and supporting a worthy cause. Diyana, would you mind telling everyone about the details of the Winter Arts Showcase?
Diyana: The show will be on the 19 December from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the school hall. There'll also be an International Food Festival held at Court C from 5:00 p.m. to 6:40 p.m., where you can purchase a selection of food. All the money we raise from the food festival will be donated to the Watoto Mission.
Kayley: We will have Alicia from Form 4 Juniper who will be DJing and playing a set of world music. There will also be a henna tattoo booth where you can experience getting a Henna Tattoo, a tradition that is practiced in Northern Africa, the Middle East and Southern Asia.
Diyana: Don't forget to register for the tickets!
Kayley: To register for tickets, you must complete the registration form sent to you on 6 December. Be quick! Seats have been filling up fast!
Diyana: A reminder to all participants of the Winter Arts Showcase, including performers, VA exhibition participants, front-of-house and backstage team members, please complete the Google Form sent by Ms Ann Tsang by tonight, it is about the dinner boxes options.
All: That’s all from us. Hope to see you all there! Thank you.
