School Introduction
Creative Secondary School (CSS) is a progressive, English medium direct subsidy (DSS) school. Our philosophy and values embrace the essence of Chinese and international educational ideals. Academic rigour at CSS is complemented by a happy and vibrant school life.
We seek to prepare our students for the opportunities and challenges of our rapidly changing world. We aim to cultivate in them a strong sense of cultural identity, a passion for life and a commitment to make the world a better place.
CSS is an IB World School as well as a recipient of the Inviting School Fidelity Award awarded by the International Alliance for Invitational Education (IAIE). Students are engaged and enjoy their learning, discovering new perspectives and realizing their potential. Within our culturally diverse learning community, we place great value on respectful and caring relationships. Our positive and supportive school culture develops confident, worthy students who are ready to lead and serve the wider community.
CSS is part of a continuum of 3 schools for students aged from 3 to 18 that share a common educational philosophy. Creative Primary School (CPS) and its kindergarten (CPSKG) were founded in 1985; CPS is also an IB World School and an award-winning Inviting School.
Creative Schools Continuum
Creative Secondary School (CSS), Creative Primary School (CPS), and Creative Primary School’s Kindergarten (CPSKG) are part of a continuum of schools that provide education for students aged 3 to 18. The 3 schools have a shared philosophy and vision that blends the best of Chinese and international educational ideals.
One of the core emphases of our schools is bilingual education in English and Chinese, along with the opportunities to learn other modern languages. We strategically focus on intensive Chinese language learning during the kindergarten and junior primary years, as it is a relatively difficult language to learn. English language learning is intensified as students progress through their senior primary and secondary school years. By the time students finish their secondary education, they are fluent and proficient in both languages, ready to pursue their tertiary education either locally or overseas.
As locally rooted schools in Hong Kong, we naturally place great importance on fostering students' national identity, citizenship, cultural heritage and history of China. We also provide students with ample opportunities to broaden their horizons and develop a sense of responsibility towards the world and humanity.
Both CPS and CSS are IB World Schools, offering the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP), International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP), and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). These programmes emphasize inquiry-based learning, encourage students to learn independently, develop a passion for learning, cultivate a strong sense of awareness of the world and responsibility towards their community and country. In addition, CSS also offers the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) curriculum, providing students with a diverse range of academic opportunities.
In conclusion, our three schools provide a holistic education that combines academic excellence, building of positive character, bilingual proficiency, cultural understanding and global perspective. Our ultimate objective is to prepare students to succeed in an interconnected, rapidly changing world.
